Building a general Zimbra package?
In your other thread we were talking about your specific situation which, I'm assuming, was a single server? If you want scalability then you should look at the documentation for multi-server installation and the Zimbra architecture, try some of the threads in th...

Building a general Zimbra package?

Hi all I've been using Zimbra for some time now, and I wonder what would it take to build a general Zimbra package for distros. After all, most of the software used by Zimbra are available from distro repositories, and making a package out of it, will allow far more people to use Zimbra, and with mo...

Using a separate MySQL server?
The simple answer is, you can't. Zimbra is designed and installed as a complete package (the packages are tuned for the requirements of Zimbra) and should be installed on a server without any other applications running on it.
I don't get it - it's just My...

Using a separate MySQL server?

Hi all I have a small environment consisting of one server running MySQL and KVM virtualisation with a few VMs. These VMs are webservers, general 'toy' servers and a Zimbra VM. Since the host is already running MySQL, and has better I/O than a VM will ever have, how can I have the Zimbra VM use the ...

External MySQL or Memcache servers?
No there is no way to do that, Zimbra is supplied as a complete integrated set of packages and must be installed and used as such.
Excuse my ignorance, but why is this so? A dedicated MySQL and/or memcache server would normally perform better than a compl...

External MySQL or Memcache servers?

Hi all I have Zimbra running as an Ubuntu VM on an OpenSolaris host with VirtualBox. This works well, but since I run both MySQL and Memcached on the host OpenSolaris OS, it would be more appropriate to use these instead of virtualising them again. Now, is there a simple way to do this? I talked to ...

Disabling traffic logs?

Hi all In these days of reduced privacy on the net, I want to disable all traffic logs on my Zimbra box. This includes both SMTP traffic and HTTP traffic and, essensially, everything. I can turn on logging later if I want to debug something. Is this possible? If so, how? And is it possible without r...

Translation lost after upgrading to 6.0.3

Hi all After upgrading form 6.0.2 to 6.0.3, the whole Norwegian translation was lost. Trying to reinstall it seems not to work, that is, I can choose Norwegian as the language, but I only get the English text. Below's from the Makefile. Has anyone seen this? I can't beleive the installer should have...

Seems this solved the problem, see sar output below, but still, what does each of these commands do? I like at least to have an illusion that I'm in control of my system roy 20:25:01 CPU %user %nice %system %iowait %steal %idle 20:35:01 all 9.79 0.00 54.07 1.63 0.00 34.50 20:45:01 all 9.87 0.00 50.6...

At first I didn't try, since I didn't find any docs about what they did. Now, I did try nevertheless and I got no errors. zimbra@zimbra:~$ zmlocalconfig -e zmmtaconfig_interval=6000 zimbra@zimbra:~$ zmprov mcf zimbraLogRawLifetime 7d zimbra@zimbra:~$ zmprov mcf zimbraLogSummaryLifetime 30d zimbra@zi...
