POP3 and SMTP Connectors - GMAIL
Sending e-mails through GMail SMTP is possible. Just follow the steps described in the Zimbra wiki. The SMTP Server name is smtp.gmail.com / TLS port is 587. The described approach brings you far. With the additional two changes, you will be able to send mail through GMail: postconf -e smtp_use_tls=...

Upgrade 5.0.5 to 5.0.9 AND Ubuntu 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS
Conny, Great! Good to know that all relevant information is stored under /opt/zimbra. I assume that you installed the new setup with the same ip address and the same hostname. Anything else you needed to pay attention to get a same base environment? Why do you recommend uninstalling zimbra before up...

Upgrade 5.0.5 to 5.0.9 AND Ubuntu 6.06 LTS to 8.04 LTS
Hi, With pleasure, I noticed that Ubuntu 8.04 LTS is now supported as well. I currently run 5.0.5 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and I would like to move to the latest status on both Zimbra and the OS. What is the recommended way: a) Upgrade Zimbra 5.0.5 to 5.0.9 (using the 6.06 Zimbra package) and then upgrade...

Increasing spam
I run Zimbra 5.0.5 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS server for 2 months now. Before, I received a lot of spam on various accounts. With the change to Zimbra, most of the spam now is filtered correctly. In the last 2-3 weeks however, I notice more spam not being filtered again. I expect that there must be rules up...

I altered the code of zmcontrol to log a line like "Checking status FOR ERROR-STATUS" when entering the function doStatus. What I found out is that the error condition occurs in a timeout situation. Should a timeout occur, a log entry is created "zmstatuslog timeout after 60 seconds&q...

There is only one line per status-file.
I modified the zmcontrol file with additional logging. After the zmcontrol.status* file is created there is a return without unlinking the 2 files. I'll check with the log to find a potential correlation.

all files are owned by user zimbra group zimbra. Out of the 43 file pairs, 14 zmcontrol.status.* files have a file size of 0 bytes, others are 24, 26 or 35 bytes long and have content in it. The content is as follows: "saslauthd is running with pid 6225" (14 times) or "amavisd is runn...

Hi, I run Zimbra 5.0.5 on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server since 3 weeks with 6 e-mail addresses in 2 domains. I did a first analysis of how zimbra is running in my live environment and I noticed that I have a lot of file pairs /tmp/zmcontrol.error.* and /tmp/zmcontrol.status.* with a file size of 0 or 20 - 4...

[SOLVED] issue receiving mail - problem with name resolution
Thanks. Installing and configuring bind9 on my zimbra host (ubuntu 6.06 server) solved the problem. Now zimbra got it's own dedicated DNS server.

[SOLVED] issue receiving mail - problem with name resolution
I created a fresh setup of Zimbra 5.0.5 on a fresh installed Ubuntu 6.06 behind an ipcop firewall. When receiving e-mails, the e-mail is received and virus checked fine. The next step the logfile shows is postfix/lmtp ... deferred ... connection refused. The reason is that the name resolution is don...
