restore fails!
ahem, I happen to have a lot of experence with destroying data ;) Here's what I would do: BURN YOUR DAMAGED INSTALL TO A CD and get it out of the way... Install that backup on a test machine and mess around. Then try to install over it. I'm pretty sure it won't fix all of your problems, but I think ...

tomcat not running vs redo.log permmission?
Hey phoenix, I don't think zmfixperms fixes the issue yet. I had that problem. I think I chmod'ed it to 777 just to get it out of the way. Nabmed, Keep in mind that if tomcat isn't running, that there are other reasons why tomcat won't start. For instance, If you do: >su -zimbra >mysql mysql if it g...

What (currently unavailable) feature would you like to see soonest?
The Zimbra community is growing at an astonishing rate. This is thanks to the many contributors and forum posters. As a community, we have the chance to work together to help Zimbra Open Source grow and morph into the type of e-mail server/service that we want. . .not simply what some company wants....

Mac OS X Installation and Quick Start of Zimbra
Dear SwankeyMode, Everyone is welcome here, and no one is being accosted. Although the forums are here for help, help is a two way streak. The person seeking advice or help should do just that...seek. What better way to seek, than to search? For being an open source project, MarcMac, KevinH, Bobby, ...

Try to install again.
If you want to see if LDAP is running prior to install, you can
>ps auxww | grep slapd
or
>telnet localhost 389
If both return null values, then you're good.

Have you had a failed install before?
If so, I would run ./install.sh -u
and uninstall it totally, and then reinstall.
Do you know if you have SELinux installed?

A little note to add to Phoenix's comment, if you used the very first build of the 3.1 release, it's possible you might have some LDAP problems. If you have a backup of your original (now zimbra.bak), i'd replace the ldap data in the zimbra.bak folder. Just a heads up. By the way, all of your messag...

Hi TheLight,
Phoenix is totally right.
Zimbra comes with its own postfix, proc, clamav, and spamassasin. If you already have one of them installed and running, your going to have a conflict.
You should disable those services, then try again.

Adrian,
I'm not sure you know this...I just want you to be safe. . .
./install.sh -u isn't for upgrade, but for uninstall.
Just a heads up.

Hi Dee, It defenetly sounds like you got some DNS issues. zimbra.ourdomain.local mail.ourdomain.com I'm curious, could users access your domain inside your network using mail.ourdomain.com before the upgrade? Like I said, it looks like a DNS problem. Are DNS Lookups enabled? Are you using port mappi...
