I just installed Zimbra Desktop and get the following error. Anyone seen this before?

Yup-
It's a known issue

Is there a solution? What causes it? We are evaluating different email products and have narrowed it down to 3 and I don't want this to be the cause of Zimbra being knocked out of the running.
Thanks,
Sherry

This error should only occur using Zimbra Desktop.
Desktop is in Alpha, so we do not encourage users run it in a production environment.
It will be fixed, but there currently isn't an ETA.

Ouch.... Not the answer I was hoping for. I myself am a fan of Zimbra, but I am afraid that this may knock it out of the running. My peers want to use a client on the desktop, not just a Web version.
Thanks anyway,
Sherry

Eric,
I believe that you have misunderstood my postings and have jumped to conclusions. Please be careful next time you attack someone.
We are still in the evaluation phase of selecting an email solution that will best fit our needs. Which Zimbra indeed is in the top 3. I never discredited Zimbra based on the pre-beta/alpha test of Zimbra Desktop. I simply said that it MAY pose a problem.
You said you would probably fire an engineer if they made such a mistake at your company. Good thing I am not an engineer and I don't work for you

Any ideas?
Thanks,

The only solution is to wait for an update from us. Sorry

Sherry,
I'm sorry I missed this thread earlier, but have you looked at Thunderbird and Lightning as an alternative desktop client? I am using these in my installation and both I and my users are quite happy with it. I personally am not a fan of the Zimbra Desktop solution because it basically replicates the web client and has the same slow performance on older computers that the web client has. But don't forget that Zimbra is an IMAP server and so works with other IMAP clients. I have tested it with both Outlook Express (works reasonably well but not famously) and Thunderbird (works very well).
FWIW,
Dan
