Zimbra on Azure Cloud

Post by ccesario »

Hi folks,

Does someone has experience with Zimbra deploy on Azure cloud? Is it supported? Is there any "Market App" for it? Any special license cost for cloud!?

Best regards

Hi ccesario,
If Azure Cloud supports any of the Operating Systems we support, Ubuntu 14/16 or RHEL6/7 and the performance of the disks is good enough, I would not see any problem running Zimbra on the Cloud. However officially, Zimbra haven't been tested with Hyper-v, which is the main hypervisor Azure runs.

We don't have any Market App ready to deploy, but you can use the ZimbraEasyInstall I wrote, it's super easy: Best regards

Hi Jorge,

First, thank you by your fast answer.
Yes yes, regarding the structcture/vms I'm aware that Zimbra will run. Mybe my question was not good :p
I read some things in other sites about Azure block port 25 or some domains reject email from Azure IP address vlock , but I dont found in on Azure documentation.

Therefore I posted this question. Indeed I would like if somebody already deploy it on Azure and if it works without problem, or is needed some specific changes.

best regards

Carlos

Hi Carlos,
Block the port 25 and others are a common factor in this days for google Compute, Oracle Cloud and probably Azure, you can always use SendGrid for example like here: More info about external SMTP Relays: I haven't tested Azure, I'm usually use DigitalOcean or Amazon, hopefully we can have more comments from actual Azure users.

Hi Jorge!!

Thank you by your answers. I will read about sendergrid (but this impact on costs).
With your experience, could you inform if Amazon block too the port 25?

Yes, hopefully we can have more comments from actual Azure users, it would very nice if users can share more information :)

best regards,

Hey ccesario,

Sorry for the late reply.
Deployment on Azure works really well except for the aforementioned blocking of port 25.
To get around this you are correct in looking into Sendgrid as an external relay.

Azure includes a free tier of Sendgrid limited to 25,000 emails per month.

I used this configuration up until recently for over two years!

What OS are you running Zimbra on with Azure? We are trying UB1604 and can't get it to start and let us into the console.
