With the new 2-weeks release schedule, the full install procedure has become somewhat "heavy". It was no problem a 1 hour install time when it was twice a year, but now it's too much slow to do twice a month.
I think it's an already addressed problem, but I found nothing on bugzilla.
As you're now using apt/yum repositories, I'd expect that micro upgrades (within 8.7.x) will be as easy as "apt-get update/upgrade"

Yep, its indeed problematic. Most time is consumed with verify message store.

I'm getting the feeling that things are still a bit shaky when it comes to the "micro updates". Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like the stability of these upgrades is sometimes a lot less than 100%. When going from 8.7.x to another 8.7.x version, and possibly even 8.8.x, I would expect the product upgrade to be rock solid and not introduce serious / critical issues as these are meant to be done in production environments.jorgedlcruz wrote:Hi guys,

Backing up, fully, an entire production environment can require several TB of storage and takes a lot of time. (Obviously, there should be backups of user data, but it feels a little bit like we have to cross our fingers every time we "hit the button" for an upgrade.)
Looking at some bugs / RFEs, they are getting quite old and are still left as "open". We went from 8.0.9 to 8.7.x and there were quite a few things that were introduced (and missing) that have taken a lot of time (user support and digging through megabytes of log files) to go through.
