From centos 7.6 to centos 8

Post by zim_mike »

I am looking for an article or document on how to move zimbra 8.8.11 GA from centos 7.6 to a new centos 8 server.
Looking around, there is a lot of information but some people seem to do things differently and I would prefer a sanctioned, known method of doing this so I don't break the server.

Can anyone share if they know of such documentation or article.

Thank you.

You're out of luck, there is no build of ZCS for CentOS8.

I thought I would upgrade but the issue is this.

Trying to upgrade from 8.8.11 to 8.8.15, I get the following.

You appear to be installing packages on a platform different
than the platform for which they were built.

This platform is RHEL7_64
Packages found: RHEL6_64
This may or may not work.

https://zimbra.org/download/zimbra-collaboration
the above page seems to say it works on Centos 6 or 7 so this is confusing me.

There are different versions of ZCS for CentOS7 & CentOS6 (or RHEL), according to your output you've downloaded the wrong version.

Yes, brain fart, TWICE no less. I kept downloading the first listing until I looked closer.
Thanks for pointing out what was NOT so obvious to me :).

That's OK, it happens to us all especially me.

BTW, I forgot to add that it is rather strange on that download page that the most recent versions of distributions and ZCS builds have the oldest ones first. With that in mind it's really your fault you picked the wrong version.

For what? The downloads for all the supported platforms are on the downloads page mentioned earlier.
