Good Day everyone.
For those who are using open source edition, what is your backup system?
how did you implement it?
As a open source ed user, i always have this uneasy feeling.
That it is really possible one day hard disk will fail.
I want to ask you guys what backup system you implemented and how (not totally a step tutorial but just an idea)?
Thanks!

I make a backup of /opt/zimbra every night to external storage with rsync.

That's the wrong question. What you should be asking is how do I backup and successfully restore a failed system and have I tested that scenario and is that process well documented so others can do it if you're not available.awb23 wrote:I want to ask you guys what backup system you implemented
Read some of the many forum threads and wiki articles on the subject, you'll also find articles on the internet covering this topic .... search first, ask questions after!awb23 wrote:...and how (not totally a step tutorial but just an idea)?!

We run Zimbra as VMware VM guests and use Veeam Backup and Replication to backup the VM guests.
So it's a full image based backup. Restoring a granular level mailbox or message really isn't possible for us, but we can restore the whole server if we have to.

Nightly snapshots of the full disk-image underlying the VM. Snapshots are written into a dm-vdo volume for deduplication and compression.
