Upgrade Opensource to Network Edition

Post by zohaib09 »

Hi

We have currently running following version of zimbra
:~$ zmcontrol -v
Release 8.8.15.GA.4179.UBUNTU20.64 UBUNTU20_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.15_P31.

We want to upgrade it to Zimbra 9 Network Edition (Latest) on same physical server

Please advice simple steps to upgrade.

Another question is, can we upgrade 8.8.15 opensource directly to network edition 9? or first move to 8.8.15 network edtion?

This has been covered many times in these forums and a quick search would have found the answer. Read the installation documentation first and see if there's anything you need to do, make a backup of your current server then download the new edition, unpack it then run the installer.
Regards

Hi,

1. Do a full backup of the server on a separate storage
2. Do as phoenix's reply by reading a manual and step-by-step procedure described in the documentation.
3. You can upgrade directly from OSE 8.8.15 to NE 9, but make sure to have a full backup. Based on my personal experience, it went smoothly for most customers. Still, I had difficulties upgrading some customers' Zimbra OSE instances from 8.8.15 to 9.x, and full backup helped resolve the problem. I can also revert to the old one if I cannot fix the problem according to the deadline.
