Just Updated 8.8.15 P31-1 to P32-2
CentOS 7 NETWORK install
Followed Instructions in Release Notes for RedHat Update with System (updated prerequisites first, but did not do the SSO thing as we use AD)
Everything went perfect.
zmcontrol restart went fine and all services running.

HOWEVER the bug I reported for Patch 31 that the Contacts tab is selected automatically on login for anyone with a shared contacts IS STILL THERE!
Rebooted the entire server just to see and restarted my browser. No joy. All same. Other users report the same. Not happy.

Ubuntu 18 on Zimbra 9 P25, running zextras build

Followed the instructions in viewtopic.php?f=13&t=70843&p=305286#p305286 to rollback to previous update, then downloaded latest build and installed as per usual.

Hello Everyone,

Currently I'm running a Zimbra open source in CentOS 7 server. I have no Active directory or multi node servers.

$ zmcontrol -v
Release 8.8.15_GA_3869.RHEL7_64_20190917004220 RHEL7_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.15_P30.

Can someone please confirm me the below steps are correct way to update to latest Patch 8.8.15_P32 in CentOS7?

yum clean metadata
yum check-update
yum install zimbra-common-core-jar zimbra-common-core-libs zimbra-mbox-store-libs
yum update
su - zimbra -c "zmcontrol restart"
yum install zimbra-ldap-patch
su - zimbra -c "zmcontrol restart"

Many thanks for your help in advance.

Regards,
Ramesh

Hello Mark & all,

I'm glad I postponed applying this patch before going on vacation, but I will have to tackle this soon. I see some issues remain.
Can anyone share their experience upgrading:

From Zimbra 8.1.15 patch 31-1 to patch 32 on Ubuntu 18 LTS or Ubuntu 16LTS + ESM?

Can anyone confirm success with Mark's recommended upgrade procedure for Ubuntu:

apt clean
apt update
apt-get install zimbra-common-core-jar zimbra-common-core-libs zimbra-mbox-store-libs
apt-get upgrade
su - zimbra
zmcontrol restart
exit
apt-get dist-upgrade
su - zimbra
zmcontrol stop && exit
reboot now

Thank you for your feedback.

For open source builds, you will have to recreate build with latest changes and then install it

According to this page (https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Zimbra_Releases/8.8.15/P32) 8.8.15 FOSS is still supported by Zimbra/Synacor.

Is there something we should know?

[quote="L. Mark Stone"]If you've successfully installed Patch 25/32 after the fixes were slipstreamed in and the repos were reopened yesterday, it would be helpful if you could post here please your results.

In your post, if you wouldn't mind including please:

-- Was this a fresh install or did you apply the patch to an existing system? (Please indicate single or multi-server)

Patch successfully applied to single server existing system. No pre or post-patch.

$ zmcontrol -v
Release 8.8.15.GA.3829.UBUNTU16.64 UBUNTU16_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.15_P32.

Update:
Updating Zimbra 8.1.15 patch 31-1 to patch 32 on Ubuntu 18 LTS Single Server (NE) went fine - no glitch. Zimbra is working fine today.
Now going to see how it goes on Ubuntu 16 LTS + ESM Single Server (NE), will post result after that.

I went from FOSS 8.8.15_P23 directly to P32 without issue. I waited a week to update until the major issues had been sorted.

Code: Select all

[zimbra@tmail ~]$ zmcontrol -v
Release 8.8.15_GA_3953.RHEL8_64_20200629025823 RHEL8_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.15_P32.
This instance is odd because it's my test environment where I converted our Network 8.8.15_P23 to FOSS 8.8.15_P23. It was not created using a backup/restore method but using install.sh from the FOSS tarball and applying over top the Network version.

HTH,

Jim

Hi Fran,

I've done several systems now with no ill effects, including my own hosting farm.

There are some (potential) issues with Patch 32: LMTP delivery problems on one mailbox server, and Tasks not working for some users is what hit us. The Tasks issue we think may be solved; the LMTP delivery issue is mostly mitigated but not fully solved. Forum posts here for both issues.

Patch 33 will be out allegedly at the end of this month, so if you are on Patch 31.1 you have the really important security updates and may elect to wait for the next patch.

Hope that helps,
Mark
