You probably applied the nginx-without-sudo instructions from the support portal, but did not apply them again after the patch?
So the zmproxyctl startup script uses sudo again, but the sudo rules for nginx are missing, hence you get a password prompt.
(The "nginx not installed" error is indeed misleading, it actually checks whether /opt/zimbra/common/sbin/nginx is executable.)

Re: Zimbra 8.8.15 Patch-35 - share experience
No issues so far after patching multi-servers setup.
But so much time lost because all zimlets are re-deployed on all mailstores each time one mailstore is upgraded.
I thought this was eventually fixed and we were able to locally-only re-reploy zimlets...

We faced the same issue; since Patch 32, upgrading n mailbox servers results in a total of 30×n² zimlet redeploys, so that gets very slow for large deployments.
We now just stop mailboxd prior to patching, so zmzimletctl deploy fails...

We're stuck since patch32. We have some big installation (40/50 mailstores) that are impossible to patch.Klug wrote:I opened a case about this (01431951).
We reported this behaviour too.
Do you think it could be useful to detach this and follow it on a dedicated thread, to mantain clean this p35 stories thread?

We have even more mailstores. It's not impossible to patch, if you just stop mailboxd prior to installing the patch. This has been our procedure since P32.
We have a Zimbra case open on this, but certainly do open one yourself to get extra attention on this annoying issue.
