I have Zimbra 9.0.0 p19 running on Centos 6 and need to migrate it to something later (Centos 9). Want to build new server and migrate, not upgrade existing server.
All the easy migration tips say source and destination need to be the same version or Zimbra. How does that affect patch levels? as i cant download a Patch 19 version of Zimbra for Centos 8+, and I cant download a version of patch 26 for Centos 6.
Thirdly, will Zimbra 9 run OK of Centos 9. Centos 8 goes EOL 2024 and dont want to have to change again.

Re: Zimbra 9 migration, Centos 6 to Centos 9
Welcome to the forums!
Please post the output of "zmcontrol -v" as this will help guide us as to your available migration options.
There are no binaries for Zimbra 9 on CentOS 9, nor do I expect that there ever will be. Both Zimbra 8.8.15 and Zimbra 9 go End of General Support on December 31, 2023, long before Ubuntu 20 and CentOS 8 go end of support.
According to Zimbra's Product Lifecycle wiki https://www.zimbra.com/support/support- ... lifecycle/, Zimbra 10 is due to be released before the end of this year, so there will be an upgrade for you next year regardless.
As a general rule, it's a good idea to patch your Zimbra servers promptly after each Patch is released. Just today new patches were released, and your version has a number of significant known security vulnerabilities.
Hope that helps,
Mark

CentOS 8 is dead. Rocky 8 or any other RHEL 8 derivatives go EOL in 2029, so that's still plenty.tlgerdes wrote:Centos 8 goes EOL 2024 and dont want to have to change again.
Re: Zimbra 9 migration, Centos 6 to Centos 9
Im now going down the Rocky V9 path than Centos, have built the shell VM to host it. Have run a test data copy that takes 10hrs to export, let alone import.
Here is my current version output
[zimbra@mail root]$ zmcontrol -v
Release 9.0.0_GA_3924.RHEL6_64_20200331010312 RHEL6_64 NETWORK edition, Patch 9.0.0_P21.
[zimbra@mail root]$
Will be installing zcs-NETWORK-9.0.0_GA_4325.RHEL8_64.20220629074359
I take it the RHEL8 version will work with Rocky9 OK?

The RHEL 8 version will work on Rocky 8, not 9. There are no RHEL 9 releases of Zimbra yet.tlgerdes wrote:I take it the RHEL8 version will work with Rocky9 OK?
