Hi,
we want migrate an old zimbra version running in centos 6 x32 to new rocky linux 8 x64.
Zimbra version is:
zmcontrol -v
Release 8.8.15_GA_3869.RHEL6_64_20190917004220 RHEL6_64 NETWORK edition, Patch 8.8.15_P9.
We have found a migration procedure in administration guide: Incremental Migration with Backup NG.
Procedure involve import old data using backup NG to new zimbra 9 installation.
We own only one license in old server with 150 users.
Can we import old data using a trial version and register this server only at the and of process (seem limited to 50 users), or may we register new zimbra server with the same license of old server at the start of migration process?
The old server wil remain on production untill end of migration.
Do You have suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Don't think we need license to migrate.

You are allowed to use your existing license, because both systems will not be “in production” at the same time.
And with 150 mailboxes you couldn’t use a Trial license anyway as Trial licenses are limited to 50 users.
Hope that helps,
Mark

You can also use the rsync method.
This will allow to sync both servers whenever you want to (hot sync) then have a tiny maintenance window (cold rsync + ldap export/import + binaries update) to switch from one server to the other.
