I cant seem find a detailed explanation of the various states of an account (i.e. locked vs maintenance vs closed)
also none of them besides "Active" allows me to "view mail" from the administrator interface (which i feel at least one of them should allow me to do while disallowing normal user login)
maybe im missing something... could someone point me in the right direction.. i would accept a hyper linked RTFM reply without being offended
user account status / maintenance
user account status / maintenance
I couldn't find anything in the current documentation either. I pulled the following out of the "Zimbra OS Admin Guide" that I had previously downloaded:
The following account statuses can be set:
• Active. Active is the normal status for a mailbox account. Mail is delivered
and users can log into the client interface.
• Maintenance. When a mailbox status is set to maintenance, login is
disabled, and mail addressed to the account is queued at the MTA. An
account can be set to maintenance mode for backing up, importing or
restoring the mailbox.
• Locked. When a mailbox status is locked, the user cannot log in, but mail is
still delivered to the account. The locked status can be set, if you suspect
that a mail account has been hacked or is being used in an unauthorized
manner.
• Closed. When a mailbox status is closed, the login is disabled, and
messages are bounced. This status is used to soft-delete an account
I think this is still accurate. As you said, it doesn't appear that you can view mail unless the account is active. Might need to file a RFE in bugzilla for what you are looking for (sounds like a good suggestion to me).

user account status / maintenance
Hi, I have zcs 7.1.2 and I want to have another status that let a user after a period of time to just login and view mails but not able to send mail. As I think this new status is very helpful before soft deleting a user. Please help me how to get this status.
