OK, have to face my limitations. I can't find what's wrong. My server seems to be working fine but I want one client for a number of accounts, and Thunderbird reports, "The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: * OK myservername.com Zimbra IMAP4rev1 server ready".
Can anyone give me a hint or clue? TIA

What port do you have configured for sending email in Thunderbird? Seems like you might be using an IMAP port instead of SMTP, or something like that.

Thanks soxfan - just had a wild thought, maybe should also pursue this on TBird forum?

I may be wrong but I believe port 993 is used for securely receiving IMAP/S email, not sending email. I haven't used Thunderbird in a long time, but isn't there a separate spot in the settings to set-up an outgoing mail server? Typically it would be an SMTP server using port 25, or 587 for secure SMTP.
