Can't change a user's password...

Post by izrunas »

When trying to save a new password (which does meet complexity requirements), I get this error message and the change does not save:

Failed to save the changes to the account.

Message: system failure: unable to modify attrs: LDAP error: - unable to modify attributes: zimbraPasswordHistory: value #0 provided more than once Error code: service.FAILURE Method: [unknown] Details:soap:Receiver
I am running:
VMware Zimbra Version:

8.0.3_GA_5664.FOSS

Can't change a user's password...

How I Fixed This:

Edit the users account password preference:

Replace empty field "# of punctuation characters" with a "0"

Change the number of PW history from 3 to 5

Save
Attempt to change PW: success.
It seems that perhaps something in the LDAP record needs to be

rewritten to clean it up ?? Anyway it fixed this problem for me.

This is what I assumed as well--but we were certain to use new and unique passwords when trying to change the user's password.

My field was not blank--already had a zero in it. Alas, it still does not work as of this writing.

This is actually an issue. It would seem that my strange issues (this password one and others) are all related to LDAP--and they all started after migrating from Zimbra 7 to 8 and from RHEL5_64 to RHEL6_64. One of our programmers submitted a bug report, but there has been no response that I know of.
