Problem to connect Admin Console with Firefox Windows v6.0.7.1

Post by GetMeOutOfExchange »

I've been wrestling with this same issue on zcs-NETWORK-6.0.7_GA_2473.UBUNTU8_64.20100616200923 trial.
Admin interface shows as Big logo in middle and small log at top left in Firefox 3.6.8 but fine in Chrome even after full delete of profile etc.
I have a domain: example.com.

MX Resolves to a spam service who then forward to zimbraserver.example.com
zimbraserver.example.com is behind an ADSL router on 192.168.1.2

I am running split DNS on the Zimbra server for example.com such that zimbraserver.example.com resolves to 192.168.1.2 internally.
LAN Clients access the server by requesting zimbraserver.example.com.

My router is configured to do NAT loopback so that direct requests to zimbraserver.example.com from LAN clients are sent to 192.168.1.2.
If I access https://zimbraserver.example.com:7071 from Firefox on the LAN, then I get the Logo.

If I access https://192.168.1.2:7071 from Firefox on the LAN, then I get the Admin interface no problem.
Repeatable.

Sounds like the server is working (if you can use the IP address directly) but you don't have something in your DNS, routing or server config setup correctly to use the example.com domain on your LAN. If you have setup the split DNS on the zimbra server correctly and you have correctly configured zimbra to use zimbraserver.example.com, then I would try having a LAN workstation use the DNS on the zimbra server for resolving instead of the default LAN DNS. That way the router re-direct won't be a part of the equation. If you have X installed on the zimbra server you might try FF from X on the zimbra server and see if using zimbraserver.example.com works on the local machine.
Setting up a demo server can be a real pain.

The server is and was working fine. This issue ONLY occured in Firefox and ONLY in the Admin Console. Just tried now and it works fine again...... The only thing that had changed was that I'd stopped Zimbra over the weekend to run a big rysnc backup. Weird. Waiting for it to happen again....

I too have the "ZmMsg is not defined" and cannot log into admin via FF. IE still works but of course now I'm afraid the system is becoming unstable.

The problem appears to have gone away after an un upgrade to

zcs-NETWORK-6.0.8_GA_2661.UBUNTU8_64.20100820033955

I'm having the same issue in 6.0.10 on RHEL5 x86_64. I just upgraded from 6.0.6. If I visit the IP address of the machine like http://123.45.67.89:7071/zimbraAdmin I can log in to the admin console. However, using the FQDN or the alias I have set up, it simply goes to a screen with a "no" logo as mouse pointer and zimbra logo in the center and top left. Examined the mailbox.log, didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I'm using firefox 3.6.13. Firebug reports the following javascript errors:

ZmMsg is not defined

zimbraAdmin()zimbraAdmin (line 1729)

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1729)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1720)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1723)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]

Result:http://storm.meas.ncsu.edu/zimbra.jpg />

Please let me know if I can provide additional information about my setup for to assist with diagnosis.

I have the same issue running:

Release 6.0.10_GA_2692.UBUNTU10_64 UBUNTU10_64 NETWORK edition.
Just started happening for me. IE works without issue.
Has this bug been logged?

I too have the admin freeze problem.

I suspect it is linked with Firefox (my version 3.6.15) as I can access the admin page using Opera.
Clearing cache and disabling all addons had no effect on the issue

Firebug indicates 4 errors "ZmMsg is not defined"

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1706)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1719)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]

zimbraAdmin (line 1722)

ZmMsg is not defined

[Break On This Error]
Using Opera for the admin page is a workaround, but I prefer FF.

I'll now trawl the forum for info on ZmMsg

Hello,
for your information, I have exactly the same bug (unable to use FF 3.6.16 for the admin console) with zcs-NETWORK-6.0.10_GA_2692.UBUNTU8_64.20101215161357 This bug appeared exactly when I installed ZCS 6.10 for all user with FF 3.6
I did not took the time to report it as the console works perfectly with MSIE and Chrome
And of course the webmail works with FF, MSIE and chrome...
Interested in case of a solution, but not critical for us.
