shared folders (not owned by a certain user)

Is there a way to create a shared item (Contacts folder, Briefcase, Calendar, etc.). that isn't a resource or isn't owned by a particular user? For example, how would I create an Address Book for the Purchasing department that contains the contact info for our suppliers? One of the users could create an address book and then share it, but then what happens it that user leaves the company?
Is there a way to create such an object without it being tied to a particular user? Or is there an easy way to move a shared item from one user to another (with other end-users not having to recreate their mount points to that share)?

Create a Resource account for the dept. Create the department shared resources (calendar, contacts, briefcase, etc) in there. Then share it out to all the people in the dept, using the appropriate permissions for each.
That way, it's not tied to any single person, but everything relating to the dept is kept neatly within a single account (the resource account). And you can repeat that process for each dept, giving things similar names, etc.
Works quite nicely.

Ugh. Why didn't I think of that? My mind has been stuck thinking of resources only as representing things in the "real world" (conference rooms, etc.). I'll give it a shot.
