Hi,
We are currently looking to migrate our existing e-mail solution to Zimbra (ZCS Network Edition) and I would like to validate our hardware sizing for a small deployment (25-50 mailboxes):
- Dell PowerEdge R200

- Intel Xeon Quad-Core X3360 @ 2.83Ghz

- 8 GB RAM

- Adaptec 6405 (with flash module in "write-back")

- 2 x Western Digital RE4 SATA3 1TB 64MB Cache RAID 1
Do you think the performance should be adequate with this kind of setup?
I've read in other threads that Zimbra is really I/O intensive?
Thanks
Christian

with this hardware you can install Zimbra and have up to 2000~3000 accounts
i hope youre planning some VM solution, and not just install Zimbra with 50 mailboxes.

I have a similar setup but in a VM environment. The drives are RAID1 600GB SAS 15k drives though. Super fast and never had any issues with speed. If you can afford fast SAS drives, I would go with them.
Yes I do plan to install everything under Proxmox/OpenVZ...
You do realise that's not a supported platform, don't you? You may, or may not, get it working but effectively you'll be on your own. Search the forums for further details of installing on your intended platform.

What do you mean "not supported"?
As far as Zimbra is concerned the product will be installed under Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bits (which is supported)!
