Huge sync.log file and high load with iOS 5 ( iOS5 )

Post by iway »

Since the rollout of iOS5, we are experiencing huge sync.log file sizes (about 20 times the size before iOS 5). The server load is also constantly high, especially mysqld is very active.

Is anyone else experiencing this? We are on ZCS 6.0.10 NE.
You should check your sync.log file to avoid it filling all disk space. One file (and there are 7 of them alltogether in rotation) can easily get bigger than 50GB!
I have filed a bugzilla entry, feel free to vote on it: Bug 65879 – Since iOS 5 sync.log grows to dozens of GBs per day

Your ZCS version is getting old. Zimbra has made many improvements to mobile sync since your running version. Might be a good idea to start testing an upgrade and implement. I do not have any experience with this issue, but it may be related.

A possibly responsible bug has been fixed with 6.0.14 and the latest 7.1.x release, so this might affect lots of users on systems before that.

The new bug for this is: Bug 66126 – iOS5 Task Sync causing massive logging

Please vote for it.

It seems to be a tasks sync problem affecting all 6.x installs. It only comes with iOS5 devices, since they are the only iPhone ones offering tasks sync.
