If any one out there knows how i can solve this problem please i will be very grateful.

Your backups are likely corrupt somehow. You should move /opt/zimbra/backup out of the way and try taking a new full backup.

You need to also upgrade immediately. ZCS 6.x is not only no longer supported, but it is incredibly vulnerable to numerous security threats.

Thank you tonser,

Your reply was really helpful and my backups are running once again. And also i want to carryout an in place upgrade from my current version of zimbra 6.0.8 running on ubuntu 8.04 x86 to the x64 latest version 8.5.

I hope my zimbra 6.0.8 full backup can work on to 8.5 version of zimbra.

You'll have to upgrade through several steps along the way, and an in-place upgrade will not be possible. You will need to purchase new hardware for certain. We have no supported x86 architecture for several years now (7.2.7 is the last version to support ubuntu 8.04 x86). You can upgrade that far for now, and then plan your upgrade to 8.0/8.5 once you acquire x64 hardware.

Yes i already have another hardware and already installed ubuntu 14.04 server with zimbra 8.5 running very well. So what i need to confirm is whether i could restore my full backup from the old zimbra 6.0.8 to it without any difficulty.

Thanks

No, that's not possible. You should look at http://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Ajcody-Notes-Server-Move for the best method of moving to a new system. Basically, you'd want to upgrade to 7.2.7 in place, then install 64-bit Ubuntu 8 on the new system and follow the instructions in the Wiki article. Once you're on 7.2.7 on Ubuntu 8 64-bit, you can then upgrade to Ubuntu 10, install the ZCS binaries for 7.2.7/Ubuntu 10, upgrade to 8.0.8 on Ubuntu 10, Upgrade to Ubuntu 12, install the binaries for ZCS 8.0.8/Ubuntu 12, then upgrade to 8.5, and if you choose to move to Ubuntu 14 you can do that and then install the binaries for ZCS 8.5.0/Ubuntu 14.

ZImbra Backup failure

Hi,

I ran into this same problem today. The accounts.xml file (under backup folder) had no permissions at all. As root, I could see the contents of this file and it seemed to be in order. After setting the same permissions as accounts.xml.old (640), zmbackup was working again.
