8.5.0 with license for EWS and enabled on user account but EWS not working

Hi, Have a new Zimbra 8.5 installed recently and one user has just purchased a Mac with Office 2013. I have checked the license and it does cover EWS (50 mailboxes) and EWS is enabled in CoS and specifically in the user settings. Have added the account on Office 2011 for Mac quite fine but nothing happens (not even any error messages). On the server I can not find the word EWS in any log nor find the ews.log at all. Have tried typing https://mailserver/EWS/Exchange.asmx?wsdl into a web browser and get the response HTTP ERROR 500. Clearly the server is not expecting any EWS requests. Perhaps the service is not running. Can anyone explain how I can get the server side EWS service working please?
