Hi ,

I wanted to install Network_Solutions_Certificate commercial certificate but I found the error described in following document.

I added a newline to the end of the "AddTrustExternalCARoot.crt" and "NetworkSolutions_CA.crt" files _only_.

But didn't work. Please help me

my server is 8.6.0 FOSS

SMTP Authentication doesn't work when TELNET

Post by phoenix »

That would be because you're sending it via the Trusted Network (i.e. your LAN), you do not use Port 25 when submitting mail from your LAN you use port 587 (the correct submission port) and that requires authentication.

SMTP Authentication doesn't work when TELNET

Post by syslint »

The OP is talking about sending email from his account via telnet command on port 25 and not about receiving emails. He says he can send email without any authentication via port 25. That type of servers are called open relay server. It is the source of spammers . Any one can connect to your email server on port 25 and send emails without any authentication. Either you have disabled authentication or it is not working.

Port 25 => It is non-ssl SMTP port ( PLAIN )

port 587 => start ssl/TLS port of SMTP

port 485 => SSL port for SMTP
