Zimbra GAL and Evolution Mail Client

I'd like to set up the Zimbra GAL in Evolution for address auto-completion, but I cannot seem to get it working. I found the following wiki article that details how to do this in several mail clients, but I haven't yet found the right combination of settings that seems to work in Evolution.

https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Mail_Clien ... figuration

I'm hoping someone else may have experience with this?

Thanks!

(Running release 8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64_20141215151204 RHEL7_64 NETWORK edition, Patch 8.6.0_P7.)

First :
Zimbra LDAP URL and port must be public
Second :
Zimbra must allow anonymous read.

For the first item, it is security breach and the second is not allow as far as I can remember.

Well, for what it's worth, I'm only interested on this working internally.

So you can get the right information by using zmlocalconfig.
You will get ldap url, password and user.

So, you're saying that I have to use the zimbra_ldap_user and associated password? I cannot authenticate as the user?

For the heck of it, I set up Thunderbird and followed what I believe is the official documentation for setting up the GAL in Thunderbird:

https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Configure_ ... hunderbird

And it doesn't seem to authenticate. It'll prompt me for the password of the user in question, but when I enter it in I'm prompted again...and again...and again.

No you can do a bind DN with Zimbra postfix user and its associated password.
