Sudden Change - All Emails show UNCHECKED

Postby msf004 » Sat Oct 22, 2016 12:13 pm

Last night around 11:30 PM suddenly ALL emails began showing "***UNCHECKED***" in the subject line. ...all emails.

I have been running zimbra on this server for 5+ years and this just started, seemingly, out of no where.

I have looked around: all services are running. I attempted stopping/starting the services. ClamAV shows to be running.

Can anyone offer anything I should look at to figure out what changed and/or what is wrong?

Many Thanks.

Thanks for reply. Before I got a chance to run freshclam I noticed that a reboot corrected the problem for 10-15 minutes. I later checked memory (free -m) and noticed I had <100Kb free. Thus, I added RAM. Since then there has been no issues.

This server did not have much RAM initially (8GB). I am curious if the latest definition files, along with everything else running on the server just exhausted RAM? Either way, I now have 32GB and mail is coming through normally now.

If it comes back, my next step will be the freshclam. I will post a response if that happens.

I am seeing the same issue. Checking zmcontrol status, I see openkim is stopped (opendkim running) and doesn't restart when restarting Zimbra. I only started running the openkim service a couple of weeks ago and this is the first glitch but I have no idea how to troubleshoot it.

I am on an older version:
Release 8.0.0_GA_5434.RHEL6_64_20120907144639 CentOS6_64 FOSS edition

However, it appears that increasing my system memory has corrected the issue. I increase the memory over 3 hours ago and have no issues since that time.

I noticed this problem about 12 hours ago. I am running Release 8.0.5.GA.5839.UBUNTU12.64 UBUNTU12_64 FOSS edition.

Associated with the appearance of the tag on the subject line, I found /opt/zimbra/log/clamav.log was growing to many gigabytes in size, with repeated entries:
LibClamAV Error: mpool_malloc(): Attempt to allocate 8388608 bytes.
"zmcontrol stop" did not stop clamd -- it required kill -9
I truncated the useless huge log with:
> /opt/zimbra/log/clamav.log

I updated to the most recent version of clamav by following the very helpful instructions at:
https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/ClamAV_-_Updating_Version
The post is old, and there are a few minor differences:
The current version is clamav-0.99.2
The config files now live in /opt/zimbra/conf/clamav.conf and .../freshclam.conf
It is those that need to be copied to /opt/zimbra/clamav-0.99.2/etc for freshclam to run
Clamav has now been running apparently OK for an hour with log entries every 10 minutes showing:
-> SelfCheck: Database status OK.
so I guess the problem has gone away.

YMMV!

Good luck -- Ross

You seriously need to upgrade your system ASAP. There are serious issues with 8.0.0, especially ldap. See https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=80141.

Since I am on 8.0.0, from reading, it sounds like I am probably not using proxy or memcache - which are required for 8.7. I am not a mail guru and I do not know what either of those components are or what they do.

I guess my question is - from reading it sounds like maybe a complicated (risky?) upgrade from 8.0.0 to 8.7? At least from my reading the Zimbra Docs, it appears the 8.7 install will fail until I add proxy and memcache. I found this doc talking about how to add those two components (https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Enabling_Z ... ng_servers).

Ultimately, can anyone offer any thoughts around if this should be a time intensive upgrade, or should it be relatively straight-forward and I am reading into it too much?
