what happens activate license on backup server?

Our production is still 7.1.4 and we have cloned those servers to VM with newer OS CentOS 7 and ZCS 8.7.7

What will happen if I activated license on all ZCS mailbox on those VMs?

If you have license then you would have a support contract as well. It would be better if you reach out to Zimbra Support .
