platform dependent characters(symbols) are garbled in Japanese(iso-2022jp)

Post by yamar »

Hello, all.
I'm trying zimbra now.

Environment:

Zimbra Collaboration Suite Open Source Edition 64bit rpm for RHEL6 On CentOS6.1
In Zimbra Web Application, E-mail msg body Almost OK, but some characters are garbled.
Garbled characters are platform dependent characters(symbols).

For example, "①", "Ⅰ", "㈱", "㎡", and more(each symbol represents : Circled number, Roman numerals, Company Limited, Square meter)
Ofcource, these characters should note be used, because not defined in iso-2022jp.

But, in Japanese Windows Environment, these characters are commonly used.

And general e-mail software like outlook express or Thunderbird can be displayed.

So, I would like to be able to display these characters.

delivered mail message files, under /opt/zimbra/store/ directory are correctly iso-2022jp file.

(copy this file to windows os, and rename *.eml, Outlook or Thunderbird can read, can also see the dependent characters.)
So, There is something wrong with the process which Zimbra Web Application read this message files, Character code conversion to utf-8 (http html output)
Is it available by changing the settings somewhere?

Thanks.

this occurs,

Context-Type charset=ISO-2022-JP Mail
charset=utf-8, may be OK. but usually use ISO-2022-JP. utf-8 is too heavy.
After all, Add java option to mailboxd.

use zmlocalconfig -e command
Add option :

-Dsun.nio.cs.map=x-windows-iso2022jp/ISO-2022-JP,Windows-31J/Shift_JIS
thanks.
