zimbra license error
zimbra license error
can i install ZCS (8.7.11_GA_1854) with network license multiple times, is there any count for license installation ? If it is ,then how to use license during cluster environment installation because it asks for license file, and License activation is automatic during the install with systems that have external access to the Zimbra license servers.

Yes, you can and should use the same Zimbra license file for every Zimbra server you build in a Zimbra farm.aslmis wrote:can i install ZCS (8.7.11_GA_1854) with network license multiple times, is there any count for license installation ? The Zimbra installer will try to 'activate" the license with the Zimbra licensing servers as part of the installation process. Your license comes with a limit on the number of times you can activate a license. If you run out of activations, open a support ticket, explain what you are doing, and ask them to increment your allowed activations count.
Note when you log in to the Support Portal, on the left you will see how many activations you have remaining, so if you have three activations remaining and you are installing a six-server farm, you need to ask for at least three more (and I'd recommend asking for an extra one or two in case you make a mistake during the installation and decide it's easier just to rebuild the server from scratch).
Hope that helps,
Mark

Re: zimbra license error
Thanks a lot for your info.
We need some more suggestion, for three node cluster how many count should be asked, and how support account should be created .
our license Effective Date is from March 08,2017 and generally how much time takes for increasing activation counts

Zimbra Network Edition licenses are bought either on a subscription, which bundles a term license and Support together; or you can buy a Perpetual license, and then you buy Support separately each year.
Perpetual costs more up front of course, but your total costs are less after Year 3 and thereafter.
You should buy as many mailbox license as you need, plus I would recommend a few extra. Once you have as many mailboxes as you licenses, you will not be able to create any more additional mailboxes.
The number of servers on which Zimbra is installed has no effect on the licenses you need to buy. So, you could have a Zimbra farm with two proxies, two LDAP servers, two MTA servers and two mailbox servers with 100 mailboxes each, and you'd need 200 licenses. You could put all 200 mailboxes on a single server and you'd need... 200 licenses. Same price.
Once you accept a quote and sign, the process for Zimbra to generate a new license key for you and authorize you to access Support takes a day or two at most in my experience.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
Mark

Re: zimbra license error
Thanks for your informative reply..
Actually we have already bought ZCS Network edition with perpetual license and 1 year support for 1000 users . But the problem is our license got exhausted due to cluster environment. Our production environment is ready (cluster farm) but we can not go live because of license got exhausted, contacted local zimbra support but they are unable to increase license count.
We are struggling for this that's why asked how to use license for cluster environment . We have isolated single point of failure but because of license error overall system collapsed.

Re: zimbra license error
Hello,
Have you opened a support ticket? If you explain properly your environment, maybe you will be suitable to have some extra servers on your license. However for the test server environment you can always use trials, and then user another email address to have a new trial, so you can ask as well to remove the other servers from your license activations, and just keep the production ones.
Best regards
