Signature Issues

Postby glenn_btn » Thu May 09, 2019 1:55 pm

Hi All

Running Zimbra 8.6.0_GA_1242 and all users have started having an issue with signatures.

When you create a signature the logo is showing in the email. When you send the email and go to the sent items, the logo is not showing and does not arrive.

I have tested with a few users recreating the html signature and uploading as usual. It works initially whilst logged in at the time but if you logout and login again you get the same issue.

We have run the fix perms but still no joy.

Any suggestions would be good.

Thanks

Glenn

You're stuck.

The last patches for 8.6.0 broke the signatures (P13 and P14).
To be more precise, they broke the "pictures in signature" feature (when you add an inline image to the signature, it's silently stored in the briefcase then anonymously shared).

Zimbra/Synacor support is very aware of this, since early april (case 00825705).

They proposed a work-around that is not working (creating a new signature with a new imported pictures only works till you log in the webmail again).
They don't know yet if they'll ever fix their patch, stating 8.6 is out of support (even if they broke it and do know how to fix it, the same thing happened in 8.7.x months ago).

The only work-around that works yet is to host your pictures elsewhere (website for example).
Then edit the signature in HTML code and put an IMG SRC link to the external hosted picture.

Some additional links about the "picture in signature" issue.

Thanks for that Klug

I do hope they issue a fix as they caused the issue, we are not all in a position to upgrade to a newer versions.

You're not alone.

There were so many issues with 8.7 and 8.8 that we chose not to upgrade (till things are settled, we were thinking about this summer).
8.6 lacks features (NG modules) but at least it's rock-stable.

It's nice Zimbra/Synacor provided these security patch for 8.6.
It also shows they are very aware lots of people are still in 8.6 because they could not upgrade (because 8.7 and 8.8 caused too many issues).

However, providing the security patch and breaking something they already broke and fixed in the past is not very... Serious.
