if someone send me a .zip (or .rar) file with a .exe file zimbra block the email, if the compressed file is a .gz file zimbra don't block the email. Why? thank you!

Could be:
You have banned .exe and
.zip-files often show list of included files (even in encrypted zips), so .exe are found.
.gz cant be scanned or does not show the file list.
