All users on mail1 should also be provisioned on mail2, but have their zimbraMailTransport values changed from lmtp:mail2:7025 to smtp:mail1:25.

Zimbra acts like the boss of a domain; it pays no attention to MX records. So you need all accounts in the domain provisioned in Zimbra, and to tell Zimbra to deliver mailfor those accounts whose mailbox is on mail1 to mail1.

Hope that helps,
Mark

With Zimbra as the secondary system in a split domain environment, the wiki describes two more commands that must be run on the Zimbra server.

Did you run them?

All the best,
Mark
