Multiple volumes for data and indexes in Zimbra FOSS

Post by juliano.morona »

For Zimbra FOSS, is there any advantage, for Zimbra or the OS, of using multiple volumes for data and indexes for the following scenario: one virtual disk with 15 TB or 3 virtual disks with 5 TB in the same storage area?

The hypervisors with which I am familiar allocate one thread for disk I/O for each disk provisioned to the virtual server.

This may or may not provide a performance benefit depending on how busy your system is and the actual physical storage underlying things.

Basically you’d need to provide us with more details around your storage infrastructure for us to provide specific suggestions.

Well remembered the condition of allocating a thread. It is a simple storage condition, an HPE 3PAR storage with 12 x 10K 6 TB SAS disks using RAID6.
