Zimbra Questions

Post by natimewad28 »

Being a previous Exchange consultant, I'm obviously very biased as far as mail solutions go. However, I do have some questions. My only experience with Zimbra is as a Comcast mail user.

Does it support Outlook? Are the protocols only IMAP and POP3 (Comcast only allows pop3)? Are there any tools for legal searches? What about mobile device control? Are there separate server roles so that mailbox data isn't exposed to the internet? What platform(s) does it run on?

If you are looking at the pay for version (Network Edition) then yes it does

For the Open Source Edition (OSE), out of the box, only supports IMAP(s)/SMTP(s)/POP3(s)

There are options for that though (Z-Push) which provides my install the ActiveSync protocol.
Are there any tools for legal searches?
At the time that I was a NE Administrator, there was none with our license, but we had MailArchiva installed that covered that need
What about mobile device control?
ActiveSync comes with Zimbra NE and for OSE, there is Z-Push

Yes
What platform(s) does it run on?
Various version of Linux, you'll see that on the download page

I'm running my home server under Ubuntu 18.04
