How stable does ZCO work in a Terminal Server environment?

Post by tutui »

We plan to use Zimbra Outlook Connector in a Terminal Server (Citrix XenApp 6.5 / Windows 2008 R2) environment with Outlook 2013. As we already know there are plenty of struggling issues with Outlook Files (.PST / .OST) being hosted on a network share. Because of this we are very sceptic how ZCO will deal with its .ZDB file being also hosted on a file server. Do you have some experiences with this kind of environment? Do you have some recommendations for such a constellation? Is there a kind of “online mode” in ZCO like the online mode between Outlook and Exchange? Your help will be much appreciated!

Hi, did you eventually install ZCO in your environment? Have you had any good/bad experience? I am planning to in install Zimbra + ZCO in an environment like yours, and I have the same doubts about .ZDB management and size...

I would strongly suggest reaching out to Microsoft to find a way to make this work in your environment, or having your users become familiar with the web client. Microsoft does not support the storage of PST's on network shares, which is why this doesn't work with ZDB's. This is ultimately a Microsoft/Outlook issue, not a Zimbra one.

tuitui, what did you end up with? without network shares, I'm guessing you would need to save it in the profile. Can't really see a good solution here. how big does those cache files get?
