We are working on solutions. We'll be sure to announce it when it's ready for beta.

Have you seen the funambol open source project.
It's a syncml server that will work with any syncml device, that latest version also does 'push' email. They have a BB client :D

It would be really good to see this connecting to zimbra. I really really want to move away from exchange!

Does anyone know if this is true push or not? There is another company that calls their email "push", but in reality it is not the same push email as RIM. What they do is send an SMS which signals the phone to pull.

Funambol is true push but requires additional client software, not as pure of a Solution as Blackberry native.

Excellent. I actually would not mind the extra client if it:
1. Works! (Just slightly important :) )
2. Does not drain the battery compared to RIM's native client.
#2 is reportedly a problem with other secondary clients that support simulated push- SMS trigger to pull or IMAP idle.

If it was easy everybody would offer this. We are working on a couple solutions. We'll release it when it's ready for beta. You can do OTA IMAP for mail and use Outlook for calendar/contacts so it's usable today. Several of us work this way today. Not perfect but gets the job done. We'll provide a timeline once we have the technical details complete and are nearing a beta.

Kevin,
Thanks for your reply .. IMAP with a 2Gig store a bit hard to SYNC to a Blackberry .. Anyway look forward to you folks finding a solution .. Yes I would also agree if others could do it we all would be .. However I guess thats why we chose Zimbra.

You don't sync the 2gig store. You just sync your most recent mail. Most of us here have multi-gig mailboxes and IMAP works fine. You just need to configure it with a reasonable setting to sync the only the mail you need. New mail only, last few days, etc.
