Apple Address Book GAL Distribution Lists

Post by chrissi86 »

Hey guys,
I've integrated my Gal in Apple Adress Book as LDAP-Directory Service as it is explained here:

Mail Client LDAP Configuration - Zimbra :: Wiki
My problem is that I can find all "Accounts" but not a "Distribution list". In Thunderbird it works pretty fine. So it must have something to do with Apple Address Book.
Have someone figured it out yet?

What version of MacOS are you using? It works fine for me using 10.7.
However, unlike the the wiki instructions, I left the Search Base with the greyed default value: ou=people, o=my company

I use 10.6 Snow Leopard, but I have also tested it on a 10.7 Lion machine and it does not work either (when I search the GAL I see all accounts but no distribution list). So it is a little bit strange because with thunderbird it just works.

I thought it had something to do with my Mac but perhaps it is a server side problem.

Just to be clear, under Lion the GAL shows up in Address Book under the "Directories" category. Make sure you have that selected when you do your search.

So now I have updated my Mac to Lion (I have reinstalled it from scratch) but it does not work either.

When I search the LDAP-Tree in the directory section, the Apple-Adressbook fiends all "normal" User-Accounts but no Distribution-Lists.

As I have explained above with Thunderbird it works quite fine (with a normal LDAP-Directory).
I don't understand this behavior but it would be nice if it would work because we need the mac support as well.
