Zimlets look interesting, but I'm baffled on how to install them on Zimbra Desktop.
Posts talk about admin screens, running Java script or finding criptic directories.
Is there a way to add a Zimlet to Zimbra Desktop that a lowly end user can follow?

I'm pretty sure they can only be installed on the ZCS server.

One of the nice things about Thunderbird e-mail and most new browsers is the ability to add user created extensions (even extensions for web-based e-mail - I have a couple for Yahoo! Mail).
Many of the Zimlets are targeted for e-mail (I can see now that others are for the other environment).
It would seem natural that you would be able to add them to the e-mail client (ZDS). The fact that you can't is very surprising.

I guess you must mean:
"o remove it, try the command you use to install zimlet, and change :

deploy ~/Y/zimlets/com_zimbra_hello.zip

into :

undeploy com_zimbra_hello"
Where do I type this? There is nowhere in the Zimbra Desktop user interface to type this command. I am not a developer, just a lowly end-user.
Thanks,
Paulo

you have to open a command prompt (dos one that is), navigate to the folder you save the zimlets to and type in the command in the wiki modified to reflect the proper name of the zimlet you want to install.

Just go to you zdeskop 'zimlet' folder. Mine is something like this ... f:zdesktopjettywebappsservicezimlet
Create a folder "_dev" here and unzip the contents of the zimlet into this folder. (eg. F:zdesktopjettywebappsservicezimlet_devcom_zimbra_stickynotes)
Restart zdesktop and enjoy the new zimlets.

As a future feature, would add a button that did that, letting you point to the downloaded zimlet. Thanks.

Been looking for an answer on installing zimlets into Zimbra Desktop and ended up on this thread.
Needs to be mentioned that Zimbra Desktop is probably located in the 'AppData' user file (C:User"yourwindowsaccountname"AppDataLocalimbrazdesktopjettywebappsservicezimlet). I'm running Vista Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell Studio XPS 1640. You generally will NOT see the AppData folder if you simply open the user folder in C: (or into whichever drive you installed ZD).
Best (and fastest) way to access the 'AppData' folder is clicking on the Windows logo (to open Start Menu), and type appdata in the search field. You'll see the "AppData" folder come up on the search results list. Click on it and look for "Localimbrazdesktopjettywebappsservicezimlet".
