From: address on an external account shows always the primary email and not the external?

Post by mrdebian »

Hi all,
I've got the primary account/email which is user1@mydomain.com
Then I've added an external email like user2@my2domain.com
When I'm sending from the external account, it always appear on the From field the primary email user1@mydomain instead of the account I'm actually sending.
Is there a workaround on this?
thanks

Hi mrdebian,

How did you add the account? Using the persona feature, or IMAP? Let us know.

I also have that issue. Then I did the following solved that but in my case on reply it works but when new mail send is good but it does not get to the receiver.

In the Zimbra Admin side

Under Class of service - default (COS) - Preferences - Sending mail

Save to sent - checked

Allow sending email from any address -checked

In the Zimbra Mail side

Prefecences - Accounts

Added an External Account

Named it Personal Gmail

Input the ff:

email: user@gmail.com

Email Server: imap.gmail.com

Use an encrypted connection (SSL) when accessing this server - checked

Settings for Sent Messages

From: Choose what appears in the "From" field of email messages - user@gmail.com

After that the IMAP works fine and the mail reply is good. The new composed mail sends but the receiver does not receive the mail. Below is the log output...

Note that I replaced the "receiver@email.com" to hide my test email.

On the Sent Items the FROM is correct and the TO is also correct. This is a test server I am still working on before the big upgrade soon. I liked the WebUI so I wished for this to work. Also can you give me a hint on how to keep the local mail address internally only cause we use the gmail as the external mail for that. But I wish to use your webmail for all of this.
