Zimbra Desktop Broken On Ubuntu 16.04

Post by Phloyd »

I've been running Zimbra Desktop on Ubuntu 12.04 for about 5 years now. Love it.
But it got to the point where I really had no choice but to upgrade the OS. So I did an in-place upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04. Most everything is functional again, some apps slightly different.
However, the only app that simply refuses to function is my Zimbra Desktop (7.2.2_ga_b11951_linux_xi686).
My first instinct was the ia32-libs, but it says they are no longer available for 16.04. It recommended the installation of lib32z1 and lib32ncurses5, which I installed. Still no good.
So I installed 7_2_8_ga_b12102_20161005054617_linux_i686 just to see if that would solve the problem. No luck.
Whenever I run the program, I get the following error: Couldn't load XPCOM.

you can try to upgrade to 7.3.0, although it is currently in BETA phase, it has lots of stability related fixes

Moreover you can get 64-bit version of ZD with 7.3.

OK. Thanks for the excellent response. Very happy to have a 64-bit version of Zimbra.
So far, it's working very well.
I really appreciate the quick response and the resolution of my issue.
