Dear all,
Per subject, what is the proper way to have active-active zimbra or even to setup DR warm site?
Anyone have any experience on the matter?
Zimbra 9 Active-Active Setup Configuration
Re: Zimbra 9 Active-Active Setup Configuration
In generally the Active-Active scenario of Zimbra can be accomplished but outside of Zimbra-provided software - google "DRBD zimbra", you'll see some articles about using Corosync Pacemaker with DRBD, and it seems like there is some success for smaller environments, but this is all outside of the Zimbra application - Synacor does not formally test this solution. Now DR is of course possible, numerous ways - see https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Zimbra_DR_Strategy, which is dated but still holds true. You can recover completely as long as your Zimbra backups are stored outside of the primary site. Large Zimbra deployments often use block level synchronization/replication (with dedupelication) to push changed blocks on the storage to a secondary sight, then a few layers up, if on VMware for example, the actual VMDK files are there at secondary site (because they sit in VMware datastores which sits on block storage). I could type for 5 hours on this topic - but hopefully this gives you some things to look at.
