sort by name in the desktop

When you click on the sort by name button it will not allow the arrow to be enabled. It works on date or subject.

This works fine in the web but not in the desktop.
any thoughts?

Use the Search features, you'll find it much better.

It may be better, but not all users will agree or find using search to be as convenient. Sorting by From is enabled in the web client (as long as you're using view by message mode), and is found on many, many other mail clients.
I would like to see a commitment to including this function--it's an item that could make a difference in comparative evaluation for adoption at my organization.
(Don't get me wrong--the conversation view is, as far as I can tell, much better implemented than Outlook currently. So that's a plus factor in the same evaluation.)

I totaly agree on that. My users will need a "sort by sender" function. Is there a poll for this feature request? Is there a oben bug/featurerequest in bugzilla?

Sort by sender works fine in "view by message" mode.
When you're viewing by conversation we disable it... because what's the "sender" for a 6-message conversation? Every possible definition we came up with was more confusing than just leaving the feature disabled.

It does not work for me, I can only sort by "Subject" and "Received".

Lates version of Zimbra Desktop on RHEL5.2

Just to clarify, I double checked that I use "View: By message", I also have the Reading pane open.
