Installing Zimbra Desktop 7.2.7 on Windows 7 JRE Error

Postby shawend » Wed Jul 29, 2015 10:50 am

I am attempting to install Zimbra Desktop 7.2.7 on Windows 7 Professional and am getting the error:

Zimbra Desktop (64-bit) requires a 64-bit Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE), which is not installed or is outdated. Please install JRE 1.6 (64-bit) or later.

However, Java SE 1.8 update 51 64-bit is installed and is working. I have uninstalled JRE and re-installed with no change.

Any help would be appreciated.

Since posting my initial question, I have tried setting JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME with no change.

Can you run installer with same user with which Java is installed and see if that helps.

I'm getting the same error on 2 different Windows 7 x86 workstations. I've also tried setting JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME and have run the installer with the same user that has Java installed, still getting the same error.

The system only has a single user which is the same user that Java was installed as. Further testing reveals that 7.2.5 installs and works correctly. However, the 7.2.7 update fails with the same error. I have tried both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of JRE. 7.2.5 ALWAYS works and 7.2.7 will NEVER install or upgrade. System was been updated to Windows 10 Pro and again 7.2.7 will neither upgrade or install fresh. I have a second identical workstation that is experiencing the same situation. Both systems are Compaq/HP desktop systems.

I have the same problem.

I downloaded an old Java Version here: (I do not recommend it)

http://filehippo.com/de/download_jre_64/tech/10809/

Zimbra Desktop Installation was succesful

Now I have the same problem as in the previous version of "Zimbra Desktop":

When I add a Zimbra account: "zclient.IO_ERROR: Remote host closed connection during handshake "

The last time I had to copy newer Java into the Zimbra Java folder.

I have something to try....

I only had to install Java 64bit:

http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=107944

or

http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/7u80-b15/jre-7u80-windows-x64.exe

The message was correct.

I had alredy installed Java 32bit

I don't know why the Java-Page choosed automatically the 32bit version.

Can you post some logs here?

You can find log files under C:Users<USERNAME>AppDataLocalimbraimbra Desktoplog.
