Zimbra Updates?

Post by JakeMS »

Hey guys,

Anyone got any idea what's going on at Zimbra lately? It appears updates have completely stopped now which has got me a little concerned from a security stand point as the last stable release was on the 8th of June 2017 with version 8.7.11, there was a Beta for 8.8 back in June also, but 8.8 has never been released stable and so far as I'm aware is still in Beta status and not suitable for production environments.

Problem is that there is no doubt in that time some of the components Zimbra 8.7 uses have had security patches issued. Sadly due to Zimbra's nature of bundling them we cannot update them separately.

Anyone know what the current status of Zimbra is? Are they still working on 8.8? Is there any planned future 8.7 stable updates?

Hoping I can get someone who works for Synacor to reply as they may have some kind of idea what's going on (assuming Zimbra is still owned by Synacor?).

Don't mean to rustle feathers, just trying to find out what's going on. :-)

Hi Jake,
Jorge from Zimbra here, at the moment, what I can share is that ZCS 8.8 is very, very close, you can read the Release Notes of the included packages, plus security fixes here: Besides that, if you want a closer look at every single bug we fix, included security fixes, I recommend you to subscribe to our Github, Zimbra-mailbox is the most active, but subscribe to all you are interested: We will start releasing more blogs, wikis, etc once 8.8 is out.

About ZCS 8.7 I will need to ask.

Best regards
