Iphone shared Contacts/Calendar

Post by tobias.dinse »

Hi,
i configured my Iphone 3gs with the Exchange Mode to connect to our Zimbra Server.
Push Notification and all the other Stuff works very fine.
But I have problems with shared content like Contacts or Calendar.
I cant see any Contacts or appointments on my Iphone from other Users Mailboxes where I have rights to access. Is it possible to integrate shared Folders?
regards

Bug 30950 – iphone: sync with shared contacts and calendars

Bug 60085 – iphone: sync with shared contacts
Basically, it's a limitation of ActiveSync. If you want to access shared stuff, you might consider using CalDAV & CardDAV, or the mobile web interface.

To configure CalDAV:

1. Open the Settings App.

2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars.”

3. Click “Add Account…”

4. Of the types available, select “Other.”

5. Select “Add CalDAV Account.”

6. In the next screen, enter the following information:

Server:

User Name: your full email address

Password: your email password

Description: anything you like, e.g. “Work,” “CalDAV,” etc.

7. Click Next. The device will take a few seconds to verify the CalDAV account information.

8. You will get an alert saying that it cannot connect using SSL. Click Cancel.

9. Now click Advanced Settings.

10. In the Port field, change the number to 443. Leave everything else alone.

11. Click the back arrow (at the top of the screen, labeled “CalDAV”). This takes you back to the main CalDAV configuration screen.

12. Click Next. This time the CalDAV account will be verified and you’ll be returned to the main Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen.

13. You may now click the Home button to exit the Settings app.

Note that the above just how to set up a CalDAV account.
To share calendars, just share the calendar within Zimbra. Any mounted calendar in ZWC will be exposed via CalDAV except if you have the iCal delegation configured in ZWC Calendar prefs.
Another method of accessing a calendar which someone has shared with you (albeit in read-only mode) is "WebCal".

To configure a WebCal subscription:

1. Open the Settings App.

2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars.”

3. Click “Add Account…”

4. Of the types available, select “Other.”

5. Select “Add Subscribed Calendar.”

6. A new screen appears. In the Server field, enter the “path” to the calendar to which you wish to subscribe. The format of a path is :

/home//
7. Click Next. A few seconds will pass, and you will get a new “Subscription” screen.

8. In the Subscription screen, enter the following information:

Server: leave this alone

Description: anything you like, e.g. “John’s Calendar”

Username: your full email address

Password: your email password

Use SSL: On (assuming your server is set to use SSL)

Remove Alarms: Off (unless you want to get the alarms on the shared calendar)

9. Click Next. The subscribed calendar account will be verified.

10. Click Save. You’ll be returned to the main Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen.

11. You may now click the Home button to exit the Settings app.

For CardDAV, see: CardDAV - Zimbra :: Wiki
I haven't tested CardDAV on iOS, so YMMV.
