Zimbra OSS to Android sync

Post by 13537storm »

These look awesome, thanks.
Btw, the ZDrive is not currently appearing anywhere?
Also, what fields will the ZContacts app sync (or more importantly what will it not sync?) And will it be able to correctly sync the FileAs name for a contact as the Android display name? I.e. A name on Zimbra, such as Rosemary Jane Elacio Mary Smith, has a fileas name: Rosemary Smith. However, due to Android's poor naming fields: with all current syncing methods to Android (afaik) it converts in Android to a display name of Rosemary Jane Elacio Mary Smith, which is annoying and can cause problems.

[quote user="zandroid"]Check out the ZTasks for Android app for syncing tasks:

Also, it would be really useful to be able to use Notes with Zimbra.
A successful ZNotes app could leverage the Briefcase in Zimbra, create a 'Notes' folder, and give the ability to the user to easily create/edit notes on their device and/or the web interface - using the inbuilt Zimbra Documents editing ability.
Creating a ZNotes app - seperately from ZDrive - would use existing functionality to give Zimbra users a proper Notes function - similar to Evernote, Catch, Google Keep or Spingpad. Whilst ensuring the search, usage, and tagging remains within the Zimbra ecosystem, and users save money.

Thank you! We took a look at what was available on the market, and weren't happy with any of them, so in typical programmer fashion decided to roll our own :D

I think the app is still stuck in the Play store review process, it should appear everywhere momentarily.

Thanks for the feedback, we are a small team, but we have been through enough Zimbra migrations, including all the custom patches we had to write for recent customers migrating from ZCS 6 to 8 that lost their contact groups, that you can rest assured we will get this right. :)

This feature is already available in ZDrive. It automatically picks up text or Zimbra documents and offers an edit option instead of open / download.
