Questions on Chat module

Hi,
I had replied my query on a post but thought that I had to create my own thread. I'm testing 8.8.12 OSE version:
Release 8.8.12.GA.3794.UBUNTU16.64 UBUNTU16_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.8.12_P1 proxy

- I would just like to ask how long is the retention of the chat history?
- I have just noticed that as an admin, I can not launch or open chat of other users/mailbox? Is this by design or am I missing some configuration?
