Address auto-complete in ZCS 6.0.6

Post by soxfan »

Over the weekend we upgraded from ZCS 6.0.5 to 6.0.6, mostly in order to address some issues with IE and HTML compose (specifically bug 42010). It's very early in the work week and I've already gotten a couple of calls regarding issues with address auto-complete. One user is not getting auto-complete for addresses in her "Emailed Contact" folder. The second user is not getting auto-complete results from the GAL. On the second user I tried clearing the browser cache and logging out/in, but this didn't seem to help. Trying this same account from another PC, the auto-complete seemed to work better, but not sure it was 100%.
So far it is only these two users having issues, but like I said, it's early. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing similar issues with 6.0.6. Or if anyone has any other suggestions to try.
I noticed in the release notes for 6.0.6 that bug/RFE 40081 was one of the notable fixes, which is related to the contact table and auto-complete. Wondering if the fix has "broken" something else.
Thanks,

John

Its definitely far worse then it was in 6.0.5 (and it was pretty bad there as well). I've been begging support for some sort of work around or hotfix since its driving our users insane.
There's two support issues (at least) referencing this:

Thanks for the response. Definitely seems worse in 6.0.6 than 6.0.5. I got a few complaints prior to this upgrade of inconsistent results, but this seems to be totally non-functioning for the users who've complained so far.

as i have a user who is experiencing this behaviour after an upgrade to 6.06, i went to go vote for that bug. however, https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=45886 lists in bugzilla as"
Status: RESOLVED

Resolution: FIXED
what does this mean in practical terms for a user that is completely pissed off at me for "breaking his email" :)
can i safely roll back to 6.05? someone on bugzilla asked for a patch or hotfix. any thoughts here?

According to pm.zimbra.com the fix is slated for the next release (6.0.7). I too would welcome a hot-fix for this issue. I might get killed by my users if we have to wait another month+ for this fix. Has anyone come up with anything at all that helps ease the pain of this issue. In our environment it is very hit and miss.... and very frustrating!!
Zimbra really has to do a better job of QA'ing the releases before releasing to the general public. I rushed to upgrade from 6.0.5 to 6.0.6 because HTML compose issues were causing major headaches for us. I came in Monday to pats on the back for getting the fix in for those. But those kudos quickly turned to complaints as this new issue starting spreading.

I wouldn't try this if I were you, unless you are prepared to restore from a backup that was done prior to your upgrade.

Note to Support and Product Management:
This is the sort of issue that *looks* trivial, but that you need to very publicly get all over like a bad smell.
You are not big enough that you can afford to get your end users pissed off at the administrators who recommended switching to your product, generally to replace Exchange.
We don't have the political capital to withstand too much of this -- especially those of us who've been around for a while.
(Anyone who needs more on that, see my forum posting history, and my bug tracker comments list...)

I have 2 users that don't get auto-complete for the same 3'rd user, when using ZWC.

I login as myself, or one of our generic users and I get the 3'rd user in my auto-complete.
What are the chances of getting both of the bugs above fixed, and a patch out prior to 6.0.7?

Any word from Zimbra about a hotfix for this? My users (especially the higher up ones) are really getting frustrated with this. I really hope that waiting until late May for 6.0.7 isn't our only alternative.
