LC.get(trial_expiration_date) was null, returning empty string

Post by inzanix »

The WARN in the subject matter appears in ~/log/zimbra.log whenever I attempt to login to the administrative console. This is followed by an INFO informing me that 'authentication failed for admin'.
There were no errors during my install nor in the install log. I even re-installed to confirm that the password I was using was correct (it is one I regularly use for this type of exercise so therefore I am unlikely to have mistyped it). I am, incidentally, able to login to read mail as admin (i.e. http://localhost, not https://localhost:7071), so it seems as though th authentication is actually working.
As far as I know the version I downloaded (FC 4 binary) is no evaluation and as I downloaded it last night it is unlikely to have expired by now in any case.
Anybody able to prod me past this point. As you can imagine a groupware system with a single, unmanageable, account is not terrbily useful.
Thanks

zmlocalconfig -e trial_expiration_date=20070101

tomcat stop

tomcat start
run all those commands as zimbra from the command line.

Thanks, I tried these steps but still the same problem.
Shamefacedly taking a windows approach I am rebooting in case something else needed to be flushed. I will let you know if this works. But if nothing this did at least point me to the /opt/zimbra/conf/localconfig.xml, whihc will surely be useful information in the future.
I am confident that there will be a future

OK, I rebooted. Checked the config file, date is 20070101.

Same problem when I try to connect.

Any further ideas? Anyone?

As I didn't mention it earlier I am working from zcs-3.0.0_M2_746.FC4
Thanks

hey you can manage the server just fine with zmprov
anyway i don't see the same error in the log, but just to be sure: at this point you still have to log in to the admin with the full admin address, like admin@domain.com

Thanks Bobby,
zmprov works like a charm (I guess I must have RTFMed with my eyese closed :-)

also logging in as admin@full.domain.name worked to get into the administration console. I can now start seriously looking at zimbra. It certainly looks impressive.
Also, the responiveness of the support team is very impressive
Have a good christmas and new year
