Zimbra 8.0.6 on Centos 7

Post by gnusmtp5 »

Hello,

We have a Zimbra installation 8.0.6 on Centos 6.10.

We are trying to migrate the data to a new server. The new server is running on Centos 7.7

I could only find download files of Zimbra 8.0.6 with rhel 6 platform which when trying to install throws platform incorrect error.

I tried running ./install.sh with --platform-override but fails at,

zimbra-logger......zimbra-logger-8.0.6_GA_5922.RHEL6_64-20131203103705.x86_64.rpm...FAILED

Checking the forums, I also tried running ./install.sh -s

That also fails with the same error

Is it possible to run Zimbra 8.0.6 on Centos 7 ? Can someone help me out.

Thanks

What you should do is install the most recent ZCS version (currently 8.8.15) on the new server then use the ZeXtras Migration Tool to move all your settings & mail etc. to the new server.

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the reply.

Would there be any compatibility issues with using an outdated and the most recent versions via ZeXtras Migration Tool.

I am not too familiar with using these, thats why.

There should be no problems doing that or you could always upgrade to the most recent ZCS version on your current server then move that to your new server. Don't forget that you'd need to have a working backup and restore procedure in place before doing any of this, problems do happen from time to time. The ZeXtras wiki has full details on how to move to a new server/ZCS version.

BTW, make sure you also read the Release Notes in detail to see if there's any 'gotchas' that may affect you.

Hello,

I am now trying to install the latest ZCS version on my Centos 7 server and I get the following error,

Since this is the new server, I have set a hostname that does not have proper DNS records. The mail hostname will ping within the server but not publically.

Will this be causing the issue.

If I set the same hostname for the old and new Zimbra installations, will that be a problem ?

Thanks.

Hello

setting the same hostname and each server should not be a problem. Each server are looking to themselves unless they need to use DNS.
