CPU spikes 8.8.15 install

Post by stevem0 »

Hello,

Would love to have any ideas, thoughts, suggestions to fix below. Thanks.

We recently installed zimbra 8.8.15 with all patches on ubuntu 18.04 server on KVM VM.
VM has 16GB ram with 4 cpu & 250GB drive.

Currently there are no users, but the CPU has random full load spikes.

I suspect/guess that zimbra is automatically restarting services. Below are htop screenshots.

Does anyone know where we can modify these settings? I would like to spread them out different time cycles, not soo many at once etc.

OR, if this is not it, any ideas how to fix? I think this will only get worse when we go into production.
Thank You!
text of one of the lines in htop below:

/opt/zimbra/common/lib/jvm/java -XXErrorFile=/opt/zimbra/log -client -Xmx256m -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1, TLSv1.1, TLSv1.2 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1, TLSv1.1, TLSv1.2 . . . . . .

Another line in the htop looks like possibly issue:

/bin/bash /opt/zimbra/bin/zmantispamctl status norewrite

further investigation looks like mailboxd might be causing the spikes.

Does ANYONE have any ideas / suggestions? Thank you

We've always seen this sort of behaviour on a regular basis. I just figured Zimbra does some housekeeping "on a timer" so to speak and it gets busy while its doing that.
I have 2 VMs up at the moment and the spikes for both coincide.

I suppose the question is "is it causing you an issue" or is it something you've just noticed and gone "I don't like that"? Because it seems pretty normal on a Zimbra VM from our experience.
